Event Details

Want to explore your inner book worm in a whole new way? Join us for the August edition of CRAFT BAR with special guest artists Julie Schneider, Kelly Ball, Jen Hewett, and Maren Salomon, who will provide a variety of easy-to-learn bookmaking projects using found and recycled materials. Learn techniques like ‘coptic stitch’ and ‘flag’ as you make your own books! Learn how to make an embroidered greeting card with Lauren Davis, from Crooked Sister.

From crocheting with recycled plastic bags to creating fabric flower brooches and hand-sewing plushie robots, there is something to engage all ages. When weather permits, a Craft Garden is opened on Yerba Buena Lane. Trumer Pils provides refreshments; Britex Fabrics provides materials; and other local food and musicians often contribute to create an event overflowing with food, drink, and socializing.

  • Silk Screening Workshop: Don’t feel like working with awls and bone folders? Local favorite The LoinSF will be on hand with a simple silk-screening project that will suit all skill levels – bring a favorite paper-based item to screen on or screen on materials provided.
  • Stitch ‘n Bitch: For those who prefer a less structured experience, we offer free-form knitting and crocheting in the Stitch ‘n Bitch area! Don’t forget to take inspiration from the gallery and the store while you explore the creative process.

Refreshments provided by Trumer Pils and Amber India. Purchase the best grilled cheese in town at the famous Toasty Melts food cart.
