The “Crate Escape” Travelling Storytelling Series | Ferry Building

It’s like The Moth…on the run.  It’s a group run that starts at the Ferry Building and then every so often everyone stops, someone hops on a crate, and tells a quick story. Then, you pick a new name out, hand off the crate, and off we go again.

Run. Speak. Pick a name. Run. Speak. Pick a name. So on. The event will last for about an hour, and we’ll finish at a bar for appropriate libations.

The total run won’t be more than a couple miles so if you want to backpack run it from work that will work. Picture a swarm of people running along and then stopping abruptly with one person climbing up on a crate to tell a short story. If you were walking by, you would probably stop and check it out too.

Throughout the evening, we will have 5 stories covering 5 themes: Love, Fear, Origins, Growth, Acceptance. We’re asking you guys to put your name in here (https://goo.gl/forms/fabma3Ljz9K9sTyw1) if you have a story for one (or more) of these categories. We want these to be real and powerful stories. It’s an honor to speak in front of the great people of this Tribe, so make the most of this and give the tribe some insight into who you are and what you’re about. Whether it be funny, sad, intense or jovial, we want it all!

On Wednesday August 30th at 6:30PM, we’ll gather at the Ferry Building and to start the event, we’ll pick one of your names from a hat. We’ll hand you the crate and you run for an indefinite amount along the road. When you like a spot, you stop, step up on the crate and will tell us your quick story on one of the themes. Stories should be no more than 5 minutes in length. We know your attention spans from Wednesday mornings. They’re pretty short! Less is more.
