Dirty Old Women Reading: Literary Erotica Salon | Oakland

Older women: Wise enough to tell the truth about sex – what they want, what they’ve done, what makes them hot. Dirty Old Women, a monthly series at Octopus, celebrates erotic writing by self-identified older women of all orientations.

Open mic starts at 7:30 pm and is open to all; featured readings begin at 8 pm. Dirty Old Women takes place quarterly at Octopus Literary Salon, 2101 Webster at 21st St, Oakland.

Starting in 2018 this event is now quarterly instead of monthly. Check the calendar for updates.

Laurel Lee’s work claims queer love as healthy, passionate and righteous, exposing society’s dysfunction as it celebrates the sensual. She grapples with the queer struggle to overcome the self-hatred of those society deems immoral and evil, to examine what society refuses to discuss and to glory in genuine sexual expression. She’s also a visual artist and this post includes one of her drawings.

Kristin McCloy is the author of three novels: Velocity, Some Girls, and Hollywood Savage. (For more about her life, read her mother’s just-published memoir, Six Car Lengths Behind an Elephant: Undercover and Overwhelmed as a CIA Wife and Mother.) Kristin lives in Oakland, and takes care of animals until she can finish her fourth novel.
