Dirty Old Women Reading: Literary Erotica Salon | Oakland

Older women: Wise enough to tell the truth about sex – what they want, what they’ve done, what makes them hot. Dirty Old Women, a monthly series at Octopus, celebrates erotic writing by self-identified older women of all orientations.

Open mic starts at 7:30 pm and is open to all; featured readings begin at 8 pm. Dirty Old Women takes place quarterly at Octopus Literary Salon, 2101 Webster at 21st St, Oakland.

Starting in 2018 this event is now quarterly instead of monthly. Check the calendar for updates.

Growing up in Cleveland, OH, Chris Nauman would sit at his father’s feet listening to him practice the accordion. Pumped to make music himself, Nauman first picked up the accordion and then the guitar. He cut his teeth playing the local music scene in Dayton, OH during college. He was caught up in political activism in the 1980s while living in the San Francisco Bay Area. One would find him frequently playing at local rallies and antiwar protests with local activist and folk artist, Francisco Herrera.

Chris now lives in the Boston area. Look for him at coffeehouses, pubs or busking in Harvard Square. Check out his first CD release: “Share the World”.

Come early for Olivia Davis.

“With her debut album, Olivia Davis holds her own alongside classic singer-songwriters by creating her own blend of folk, alt-country, and American roots music. Honest and well crafted, these songs reflect deeply personal stories, yet remain universally relatable.

Olivia was born and raised in the Bay Area, and was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when she was one year old. Her struggle with the disease has provided an inspiration for her song writing, and she explores themes such as claiming one’s identity and celebrating the preciousness of life. She has been faced with difficult challenges and life-and-death realities at an unusually young age, and these experiences add depth and wisdom to her lyrics. Her music resonates with hopeful optimism, and her story is an inspiration.
