Stem Cells | CANCELLED: East Bay Science Cafe | Albany

Explore the power, the promise, and the problems of stem cells.

Stem cells have captured the imagination of scientists and the pubic alike; they are raising hope in patient communities and they’re also causing controversies. Uta Grieshammer from the State’s Stem Cell Agency will explain why this area of medical research is so exciting to scientists and what we may see in terms of therapies in the future.

Grieshammer, PhD, is a Science Officer at the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, the State Stem Cell Agency that manages bond funds dedicated to support basic, translational, and clinical stem cell and regenerative medicine research in California. Her research background is in the study of embryonic development, elucidating how the cells of mouse and chick embryos assemble into functional organs.
