2019 Dahlia Show: SF’s Official Flower | Golden Gate Park
The Dahlia Society of San Francisco will hold their annual Dahlia Show at the Hall of Flowers in Golden Gate Park from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday, August 17, 2019, and from 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday, August 18, 2019.
The Dahlia is the official flower of San Francisco.

FREEThe Dahlia Dell in Golden Gate Park, located to the East of the Conservatory of Flowers, is maintained by DSC members. Hands-on experience by assisting with planting, grooming, and digging out of the tubers has trained many novices in dahlia growing.
“The Dahlia partakes essentially of the character of our beloved city, in birth, breeding and habit, for it was originally Mexican, carried thence to Spain, to France and England in turn, being changed in the process from a simple daisy-like wild flower to a cosmopolitan beauty. In its versatility, its beauty, its infinite variety of color and form, it is the very symbol of San Francisco life and of the spirit of her people.” – Mayor Rolph’s resolution of 1926.
