San Francisco 2017 Chanukah Festival: 25-Foot-Tall Menorah | Union Square

Celebrate Chanukah 2017 with the 43rd annual lighting of the 25-foot tall mahogany Bill Graham Menorah in Union Square. This San Francisco tradition, the brainchild of rock and roll concert promoter Bill Graham, begun in 1975.

Lighting ceremonies take place from December 12-19, at approximately 5 pm on most days (Friday is at 3 pm and Saturday is at 7 pm).

  • Tuesday, Dec 12 — 1st Union Square Candle Lighting Ceremony at 5:00pm – Participating in the Lighting: George Zimmer
  • Wednesday, Dec 13 — 2nd Union Square Candle Lighting Ceremony at 5:00pm
  • Thursday, Dec 14 — 3rd Union Square Candle Lighting Ceremony at 5:00pm
  • Friday, Dec 15 — 4th Union Square Candle Lighting Ceremony at 3:00pm
  • Saturday, Dec 16 — 5th Union Square Candle Lighting Ceremony at 7:00pm – Menorah Parade after lighting ceremony
  • Sunday, Dec 17 — Bill Graham Menorah Day
    – 2:00 PM Dreidel House & Kids Crafts activities begin
    – 3:30 PM Music by Jerry’s Kosher Deli featuring Greg Anton, Jordan Feinstein, Byron Rynes, and AJ Rivlin Playing their delectable mix of Jerry/Grateful Dead/ Reggae/Bob Marleyand Jewish Music
    – 5:00 PM – 6th Union Square Candle Lighting Ceremony
    – Participating in the Lighting: Long Time Bill Graham Colleagues & Lori Starr Executive Director of The Contemporary Jewish Museum
