Free Pool Weekend: Open Swim & Classes | Berkeley

Come for a swim as part of a free aquatics weekend at the Berkeley YMCA.

Bring your friends and family to try out their aquatics programming for free.

Saturday, April 30
Facility Hours: 7:00am – 5:00pm

7:30am-5:00pm: Adult Lap Swimming – Lap Pool
Enjoy lap swimming all day along with our complimentary kick boards, fins, noodles, and pull buoys.

9:00am-10:00am: Aqua Aerobics – Lap Pool 
A low-impact high aerobic workout designed to work every major muscle group. The water’s buoyancy decreases stress on hips, knees, ankles and feet.

10:30am-11:30am: Aqua Core Fitness – Lap Pool
High intensity, low impact workout targets core muscles and promotes total body fitness. This fast-paced class is designed to improve and maintain cardio fitness and core strength while protecting joints such as hips and knees.

7:30am-7:30pm: Adult Lap Swimming – Lap Pool
Enjoy lap swimming all day along with our complimentary kick boards, fins, noodles, and pull buoys.

10:00am-11:30am: Lap Swimming for Fitness – Lap Pool
Free 15-minute drop in sessions to help anyone looking to introduce or enhance lap swimming as a form of regular exercise. Learn about sets, timing, distances, and drills to get the most out of your time in the pool.

Special Sunday Morning Family Swim – Grace’s Pool

11:00am-12:00pm
Family Swims are a great way to be active with your family and practice swimming skills at the same time. Children under 14 are required to have parents in the water at all times. Tickets required and will be given out 15 mins prior to start time. Max 25. Please pick-up a ticket from the Welcome Desk.

12:00pm- 1:15pm: Freestyle Workshop – Conference Room, Lap Pool
We will begin in the classroom showing videos of proper stroke technique and then hit the water to put all the information to practice. Learn what proper forms looks and feels like, and ways to practice each component of the stroke to increase your ability. Sign up at the Welcome Desk, 15 max.

1:30pm- 2pm: Flip Turn Clinic – Lap Pool
This clinic is designed for novice swimmers who want to learn the turn from scratch. It will also help intermediate to advanced level swimmers to clean up various fundamental aspects of the turn such as proper line of rotation, proper push off alignment or streamlining. Sign up at the Welcome Desk, 10 max.

2:00pm – 3:00pm: Video Stroke Analysis – Lap Pool
Free 15-minute drop in sessions for the intermediate to more advanced swimmer to improve your stroke mechanics and be shown specific areas of improvement to become a more efficient and smooth swimmer.

All classes and workshops are drop-in. Guests must be at least 18 years old and present photo ID.
