Free Friday Night Bands at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk | 2019

Every summer, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk casts its net and drags in a host of Top 40 bands from the ’70s, ’80s, and early ’90s to play free concerts right on the beach every Friday night.

Everclear is an American alternative rock band formed in Portland, Oregon in 1991 by Art Alexakis, the lead songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist.

The band found success with their first three albums on Capitol Records which were all certified platinum in sales. The albums included charting songs like “”Santa Monica”” and “”Wonderful.”” After a brief stint of solo performances in 2003, Alexakis decided to push forward with the Everclear name, finding new musicians to perform with and releasing two more albums, Welcome to the Drama Club and Invisible Stars.

In 2012, Alexakis started the Summerland Tour, a 1990s nostalgia tour with Everclear and other 1990s alternative rock bands.
