Everybody’s Film Classics: “Some Like it Hot” in 35mm | San Rafael

The Rafael continues its quarterly series Everybody’s Classics, featuring big-screen presentations of classic films offered free to the public and made possible through the support of the Koret Foundation.

In Billy Wilder’s comic masterpiece, Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis are two musicians who accidentally witness the St. Valentine’s Day massacre in 1929 Chicago and, pursued by mobsters, go undercover by joining an all-girl band heading for Miami. Befriending the band’s singer Sugar Kane (a terrific Marilyn Monroe), our hapless heroes try to make the best of their cross-dressing dilemma. 35mm print. With Joe E. Brown, George Raft. Writers: Billy Wilder, I.A.L. Diamond. Director: Billy Wilder. (US 1959) 119 min.
