Event Details

How do we navigate our anti-oppression spaces that actually marginalize us and our bodies?

Often self-avowed anti-oppression spaces will never mention body size, or worse will be actively fatphobic, and fat people (particularly those who hold multiple oppressed identities and who are already constantly battling the internalized notion that they’re not entitled to take up any space) can feel like they’re required to be gentle educators at best if not silent bystanders at worst. How do we create the space to be angry and critical about this, while still valuing the work and care that we put into these activist spaces?

Panel will feature:
Caleb Luna
Kendal Blum
Anna Anthropy
& Na’amen Tilahun
Moderated by Virgie Tovar
