Bay Area Science Events

You wake up one day, see the fog outside your window, and wonder where else in the world feels the same. You guessed it, there’s an app for that. Join us on our parklet for an evening of demos and discussion with the creators of It Feels Like, the app that won the Swissnex San Francisco Grand Prize in the Data Art Challenge, part of Data Canvas: Sense Your City.

ETH Zurich’s Frank Lanke Fu Tarimo and Danielle Griego show how, by comparing local weather conditions, their app discovers cities that “feel” similar to yours and when. Your summer day in San Francisco, for example, might feel like September in London or December in Rio. It Feels Like pulls photos of these places from Flickr as you learn about their climate and geography.
