Free Seasonal Cooking Demo & Tasting | Ferry Plaza Farmers Market

This waterfront market, run by the Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture (CUESA), has over 100 food, fruit, and vegetable vendors on Saturdays and the entire Bay as its beautiful backdrop.

The Ferry Plaza Farmers Market operates year-round from 8 am to 2 pm.

On most Saturdays, free cooking demos take place in the CUESA Classroom (under the white tents in front of the Ferry Building) and are free to the public, with recipes and samples for all.

Dominica Rice-Cisneros is the Chef/Owner of Cosecha restaurant in Oakland. Cosecha (which translates to harvest) brings together the bounty of the Bay Area’s best ingredients, offering a warm and cozy place to gather, talk, and rejuvenate in the historic Swan’s Market.

Those who find their way to her Old Oakland location will experience the communion of California and Mexico and will find comfort in their home-style offerings. They prepare everything from scratch every day, including handmade tortillas, pastries, and complex traditional entrees, as well as seasonal salads and soups. Dominica has been cooking professionally in the Bay Area, Mexico City and New York for the past seventeen years. She worked at Chez Panisse, Eccolo and Restaurant Soleil in the Mexican capitol.
