Free Seasonal Cooking Demo & Tasting | Ferry Plaza Farmers Market

This waterfront market, run by the Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture (CUESA), has over 100 food, fruit, and vegetable vendors on Saturdays and the entire Bay as its beautiful backdrop.

The Ferry Plaza Farmers Market operates year-round from 8 am to 2 pm.

On most Saturdays, free cooking demos take place in the CUESA Classroom (under the white tents in front of the Ferry Building) and are free to the public, with recipes and samples for all.

The mission of Bay Leaf Kitchen is to teach children and families how to create, cook and share sustainable, healthy food and to foster a connection between our community and our farmers.

Elianna and Amy love food. Everything about it excites them—from how it is grown, to how it makes them feel, to cooking, and eating together. They met while teaching kids how to cook during Foodwise Kids, which is a free program created by Elianna in 2012. Foodwise Kids brings San Francisco public school students to the CUESA Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, where they learn about seasonal produce, sustainability, and how to have fun in the kitchen. Their mutual passion for food education and their joy for teaching and working with kids spawned Bay Leaf Kitchen.

Elianna Friedman is the Director and Co-Founder of Bay Leaf Kitchen. In addition to her work at CUESA, Elianna has many roots in the Bay Area food community, including New Taste Marketplace and the SF/Marin Food Bank.
