First Friday Shorts | The New Parkway

Please Note: First Friday Shorts is on hiatus. There will be no upcoming screenings until further notice.

First Friday Shorts screens short films by Bay Area filmmakers and media arts organizations using film and video to tell stories not usually seen or heard.

Join The New Parkway and discover local filmmaker talent and learn something new about your Bay Area community.

December 4, 2015 features The Youth Impact Hub Oakland – Film & Fellowship Showcase. Sponsored by Akonadi, 50 Fund and PG&E Foundation. This “free” program will screen some of the most innovative short films created this year in Oakland, and honor youth entrepreneurs and filmmakers of color from Youth Impact Hub Oakland.

Get your “free” tickets here.

This year’s program features short films created by De’Mario Lewis and DaShawn Clinton, recent recipients of the Innovator Award at the 2015 East Bay Youth Media Awards, as well a sneak preview of the new Black Panther documentary film “My People are Rising” created by the award-winning Green Eyed Media Collective and the United Roots Media Enterprise.

Additional films to be screened include: “Amor for Alex”, a short film investigating the 2014 Alex Nieto Murder Case and “Color Correction” a short narrative produced by the DetermiNation Media Group. We will also be premiereing the new Youth Impact Hub videos series produced by Simphony Productions.
