Free compost, for Berkeley residents only, is given away the last Saturday of every month from February through October 2011 (except for July which will be on the 4th Saturday due to the Kite Festival).
This is a self-serve give away, so bring your shovels, containers, and safety gear. It is also a first come, first served event, and lasts until the compost is gone weather permitting. If you are planning to use your pick-up, they request that you load no higher than the lip of your truck bed and that you tarp your load.
