Event Details

Chiaroscuro, a technique used by Renaissance painters to add depth and boldness to their work, means “light-dark”. The term is used to describe paintings with high contrast of light and shadow. Chiara Scura, the side project of The Tropics lead singer, Claire George, employs the same technique, balancing light and dark in her music, giving her sound depth and contrast. Her powerful and at times haunting vocals soar over shimmering pop synth lines, simultaneously giving her sound both an ethereal lightness and eerie darkness.

Chiara Scura opened for Foxtrott at the Pop Montreal showcase in September and is working on her first EP, which will be released in 2015.

Blüm is the solo project of 21 year old multi instrumentalist/producer Nathaniel Blüm. Blüm’s ‘California Dream Pop’ sound floats between bouncy RnB sing-alongs and emotive lounge grooves. His debut home-recorded debut EP was made during his late teen years in Santa Cruz, before he moved to San Francisco to play with his current band ‘Hot Flash Heat Wave’.
