Event Details

CMC is happy to present a series of free, one-hour Hand Drumming and Indian Rhythm Workshops for the campus and community. Directed by international percussionist, educator, and entrepreneur, Dr. Rohan Krishnamurthy, the interactive workshops will be open to participants of all ages and backgrounds, both percussionists and non-percussionists. Participants will learn the foundations of rhythm, essential hand drumming techniques, traditional vocal percussion, and cross-genre approaches to improvisation and composition. The CMC will have newly-acquired Indian percussion instruments for use, or you can bring your own instrument.

The workshops will culminate in a concert by Rohan on April 29 featuring the premiere of a new Indian percussion composition. The workshops and concert are supported by the San Francisco Arts Commission.
