Event Details

It’s now a little bit cheaper to do your Sunday shopping in San Francisco if you have a car.

The SFTMA reinstated free Sunday parking at meters after a year-long experiment with charging for Sunday parking.

Free Sunday Parking at Meters in San Francisco
– Begins July 6, 2014

Sunday Parking Exceptions:
– Four-hour time likely eliminated (see page 10 of the budget PDF)
– Parking at meters on SF Port property (mostly in Fisherman’s Wharf and along the Embarcadero) will continue to be enforced seven days a week.
– An exact start date for the free Sunday meters hasn’t been announced, but the Mayor’s office says it will begin with the next fiscal year (which should be July 6, 2014).

How much revenue is the city losing?
According to the SFMTA, they had planned on making $11.5 million dollars from parking meters on Sundays for the 2015 fiscal year ($7.5 in meter payments and $4.0 million in citations).

We believe we have the details correct, but please park at your own risk and contact the SFMTA if you have any questions. Read more of the SFMTA’s operating budget.
