Across the funding landscape, grantmakers want to understand how artists are engaging with communities. During the event, they will watch segments of each participating filmmaker’s work, which will be followed by a conversation about audience engagement and its influence on each participant’s respective funding strategies. Some questions around which the discussion might revolve:

• Is the community that is the subject of the film also the film’s audience?
• How does one navigate these differences?
• How does funding the project influence the filmmaker’s relationship with the subject?
