Gender-Bending 21st Century “Much Ado About Nothing” | SF

Catch a gender-bending 21st Century exploration of one of Shakespeare’s best-known and well-loved comedies, Much Ado About Nothing, produced by the Theater of Others.

Performances are pay-what-you-can, but you can also reserve seats in advance. For Thursdays reserve pay-what-you-will tickets online, and they’ll pay you $1.00 at the door.

The up-to-date setting, a California estate in the beautiful warm sunshine of summer, lets many women play men’s roles. This inversion truly subverts what we expect of the characters’ gender roles and relationships. Dramaturge and company member Gaby Schneider, prepared and adapted our script with a keen understanding of the play’s social hierarchy and the characters’ affiliations, affinities, affairs, and alliances.
