Asian Art Museum’s $10 Thursday Nights (SF)

Looking for a great date night on the cheap? The Asian Art Museum is open until 8 pm on Thursdays and general admission is just $10 (that’s half-off). Plus Special exhibitions are now included with general admission tickets!

You can spend an evening in their beautiful building enjoying the galleries, fun talks, lively gatherings and intimate hangs with artists.

Except for certain special events, general admission tickets are $10 for adults, $8.50 for seniors, $7 for students and youths (age 13-17).

Asian Art Museum’s $10 Thursday Nights (SF)

Get tied up exploring the meanings and possibilities of the word “fetish” in Evoco, a performance artwork by Midori.

Evoco will erode and generate boundaries in equal measure, combining flowers, Japanese rope bondage, flesh (yes, there may be a bit of nudity) and sumi ink to transform a moving body into a series of restrained sculptures and residual prints. Audience members will be invited to respond to this arrestingly beautiful and one-of-a-kind event by creating artwork of their own.

It starts at 6pm and goes until 8:45pm. It’ll be a slowly building ambient piece so you can flow in and out.. there will be sketch material available and I hope you’ll take pix and vids.

The evening also includes a gallery talk by Jeff Durham, assistant curator of Himalayan art at the Asian Art Museum, titled “Gold Rush: The Aura of an Ore” as a part of the Gorgeous Idea talk series.

Admission is just $5 and includes admission to the “Gorgeous” exhibition.

TopCoat Nail Studio will be adorning nails with fresh designs inspired by the stunning artwork in Gorgeous.
