Writers R.S. Brenner, M. Dante, and Stephen Jay Schwartz read from a new anthology on Jewish Noir, followed by a discussion on crime and Jewish fiction. Book sales and signing to follow. Presented in conjunction with the Litquake Literary Festival.

R.S. (Summer) Brenner is the author of a dozen works of poetry and prose, including crime fiction, collections of short stories, and award-winning young adult novels.

M. Dante has been a popular commentator for over a decade. Dante only recently revealed her poetry and creative non-fiction at Philadelphia’s Erotic Literary Salon (ELS), Noir Con/Noir Riot, and IOTA Arlington. Her writing is darkly poetic, strikingly precise, and clear even when surreal. Often set in bleak yet familiar places, where no one is entirely good, Dante seems remarkably comfortable contemplating the everyday evils of human nature.

Stephen Jay Schwartz is a Los Angeles Times bestselling author who has spent a number of years as the Director of Development for Wolfgang Petersen where he worked to develop screenplays for production, including such films as Air Force One, Outbreak, and Bicentennial Man. His two novels, Boulevard and Beat, follow the journey of sex-addicted LAPD detective Hayden Glass. Schwartz was a judge for the 2012 Edgar and the 2012 International Thriller Writers Awards, and will be a judge for the 2016 and 2017 Los Angeles Book Prizes for the Mystery-Thriller category. His new work will be included in a short story collection with T.C. Boyle, to be published by Red Hen Press in 2015. Schwartz is currently writing a standalone thriller set in Los Angeles.
