Hupalo & Repasky Pipe Organs | 2450 Alvarado St., #7 San Leandro, CA

Event Details

Come join them for an afternoon of music, friendship, snacks and drinks. They have been working on a historic American organ, a 1889 Woodberry & Harris organ, and they just can’t wait to share it with you. No matter if it’s your first time hearing a pipe organ, or if you are a long-time organ connoisseur yourself, you will absolutely be touched by the warm and exuberant voice, the elegant woodwork, as well as the beautiful facade pipe paintings on this organ. It is one of the true legacies of American organ building.

Open-console playing time begins at 1:00, at which point anyone is welcome to play the organ, and a special short music program will start at 3:15pm, featuring pieces composed by Thelonius Monk and Josef Zawinul, adapted for pipe organ and bass & performed by the luminary Bay Area jazz pianist Lorenzo Fallon on the organ, Ben Williams on basses and Jon Otis on percussion. They are also featuring music from Oakland-based composer and bassist Dani Robison and her friends. It will be a feast to sensations — a vortex of free-jazz, funk and indeterminacy music alongside the sound of a historic American pipe organ.

RSVP is appreciated since food and drinks will be provided. Please email Ben Williams at ben@hupalorepasky.com for RSVP.
