Event Details

A discussion of immigration policy, its impact on immigrant entrepreneurs in the Bay Area, and celebrating their positive contributions.

Over 40% of Fortune 500 companies – like Google, Facebook, Oracle, Apple – were founded by immigrants or their children, and immigrant founders continue to drive growth and success in the tech sector. Despite this, major barriers still exist for immigrant entrepreneurs hoping to start their own companies in the US, including limited pathways for graduates, overly restrictive visa quotas, green card lines stretching back decades, and a hostile political climate in Washington.

Panelists from the tech community will discuss with the audience their own immigration stories, and tackle questions like: what future policies have been proposed, and how can they make sure they happen? What does DC need to hear from you – and what do you need to hear from them? And how do you shut down toxic anti-immigrant rhetoric in the current campaign?
