Event Details

The San Francisco Jug Band Festival will be held indoors in the warm atmosphere of an Irish pub, the venerable Plough & the Stars, on Saturday, September 22, 2012.

This year’s festival explores new directions in jug band performance. A culture of jug bands and related hokum, jook, washboard, skiffle, and medicine-show bands has continued an unbroken chain since the 1800s to the 60s folk revival, to this day, united by a spirit of “anything can be a musical instrument.” Come out and see The Goat Family, Amazing Dr. Zarcon’s Breathing Machine and more performing live.

Doors are at 6pm and admission is $7, with all proceeds supporting the bands and the California Jug Band Association.
