The Wicked Priest Narukami | CANCELLED: Kabuki Free Theater Class | San Mateo

Join the San Mateo Kabuki Club on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 1:30 pm for a rare chance to study on video the classic Kabuki theater drama, “The Wicked Priest Narukami.”

The production features an all-star cast of young, up-and-coming actors.

It is medieval times in Japan. The wicked and powerful priest Narukami has imprisoned the dragon god in a waterfall near his mountain retreat. As a result, all rainfall has ceased and the land is suffering from drought. Despondent, the Emperor sends the beautiful Princess Taema to try and break the curse and restore rainfall to the land. Can she succeed against the fearsome priest?

The video will be shown in Japanese, with adequate introduction and synopsis provided in English. Though by no means required, feel free to bring a snack to share.
