Spend the day with KCSM Jazz 91 at Jazz On The Hill, a day-long celebration with a great line-up of musicians who cover many genres of jazz from straight-ahead, blues, to Latin and more.

The stage will be located on the lower mezzanine in front of the library steps, with seating along side the fountain and plenty of lawn seating. Bring your picnic blanket, umbrella and come early to claim your spot. You can pack your own lunch or grab a bite at the festival while you browse local artisans such as Ramsess Fine ArtInk Spell Books and Elizabeth Moon Original Art Jewelry showcasing their wares, and other organizations. Expect an audience of approximately 5,000 for this festival.

Seating is first come, first served. There are a limited number of chairs, but there are large lawn areas for picnic-like seating.

11 am: SFJazz High School All-stars Combo


The SFJAZZ High School All-Stars presents its 6-piece Combo, directed by renowned saxophonist and educator Dann Zinn. Comprised of the “best of the best” Bay Area high school students, this small ensemble focuses on playing original compositions and arrangements, along with the dynamic works by the SFJAZZ Collective.

12 noon: Etienne Charles: Creole Soul


Etienne Charles: Creole Soul will take you on a captivating journey into a myriad of styles rooted in Afro-Caribbean culture. From the musical depths of the islands, from calypso to Haitian voodoo music, mixing in rock, reggae, belair, kongo as well as the influences of Motown and R&B music.

1:45 pm: Lynne Arriale, Grace Kelly & Charenee Wade
Celebrating Great Women In Music: Abbey Lincoln, Nina Simone, Joni Mitchell


Lynne Arriale, Grace Kelly & Charenee Wade take the stage together, bringing their unique styles and amazing talent on the saxophone, piano and vocals to celebrate Great Women in Music: Abbey Lincoln, Nina Simone & Joni Mitchell. Evan Gregor – bass; Ross Pederson – drums.

3:30 pm: Charlie Musselwhite


Legendary bluesman Charlie Musselwhite returns to the Jazz on the Hillstage to headline this year’s event. Mr. Musselwhite is living proof that great music only gets better with age. A bluesman of the highest order, Musselwhite has taken blues harp to places it has never been before, both musically and physically, jamming with pop icons, Cuban legends and rock stars.

5:30 pm: SF Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble


The sounds of salsa, and the melding of funk and soul with Latin jazz performed by young musicians ranging in age 12-18-years-old will have you on your feet keeping time with their intoxicating rhythm.
