Originally from San Francisco, Kevin Avery has most recently appeared on FX’s “Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell” where he is also the show’s head writer.

Kevin is also the writer, star, and executive producer of the award-winning short film Thugs, The Musical, which also starred David Alan Grier, Margaret Cho, Rachel True, and rapper Prodigal Sunn, and was recently praised by The Dallas Weekly as an “uproariously funny mockumentary.” “Thugs” has won Best Film at the Atlanta Shorts Festival and the Tupelo Film Festival, Best Short at the San Francisco Black Film Festival, Best Comedy at the Montgomery Film Festival, and the Audience Choice Award for Best Film at the L.A. Comedy Shorts Fest and the Richmond International Film Festival.

Additionally, Kevin is the creator and host of the web series Kevin Avery’s Obsessed, as well as the popular web shorts Not In a Gay Way and Black Guys on a Beautiful Day, which have both been featured at San Francisco Sketchfest and the Hollyshorts Film Festival.
