Kiosk Fest 2017: Curated Indie Book Festival & Zine Extravaganza | SF

The Grand Newsstand, San Francisco’s zine stand, is hosting an open-air festival to celebrate zines, art, and printed media. Kiosk Fest takes place around Market Street in San Francisco between 5th Street and the Embarcadero.

Kiosk Fest 2017
September 1-2, 2017 | 10 am to 6 pm
Kick-off party at The Grand Newsstand on September 1 from 6-9 pm
Market Street, between 5th and Embarcadero, SF
FREE

There will be a kick-off party on September 1, 2017 from 6-9 pm with “brown-bagging” (so, BYOB and be sneaky about it) on Market Street. You’ll be huddling together under strings of lights with friends new and old.

The fest on September 1-2, 2017 will feature 63 vendors in 25 kiosks. The curated indie book festival pulls together printing presses, magazine publishers, zine distros and local writers to run their own pop-up shops with books and art prints for sale, poetry readings, workshops, live music, and even a downtown scavenger hunt.

If you’re not familiar with zines, they’re small self-made books on any variety of topics – art, poetry, politics, collage, personal stories, etc.

This fest gives artists an opportunity to showcase their work to an unprecedented number of people as it takes place on the city’s main thoroughfare, and visitors will be given “passports” with an interactive map and prizes to visit each booth.
