Event Details

The always innovative Kronos Quartet returns for an intimate concert that explores music from all over the world and sounds from all corners of the imagination on Saturday, August 12, 2017.

Free, but an RSVP is required.

The performance features new and recent works written for Kronos’ Fifty for the Future, an education and legacy project that is commissioning contemporary repertoire for string quartet. Participating artists include Philip Glass, Laurie Anderson, Rhiannon Giddens, Zakir Hussain, and Wu Man.

Kronos Quartet performs a very broad range of musical genres: Mexican folk, experimental, pre-classical early music, jazz, tango and more. Plus, you might recognize their work in movie soundtracks for Requiem for a Dream, Heat, and The Fountain. Kronos has also recorded adaptations of Jimi Hendrix’s “Purple Haze”, Sigur Rós’s “Flugufrelsarinn”, Television’s “Marquee Moon”, Raymond Scott’s “Dinner Music for a Pack of Hungry Cannibals”, and Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right”.
