“La Posarela” Mexican Christmas Musical | Mission Dist.
Get into the holiday spirit with “La Posarela,” the bilingual musical which blends the Mexican folk traditions of las Posadas and las Pastorelas and spices them up with music, social commentary and humor.
This modern twist on the nativity story also addresses issues of immigration and gentrification in San Francisco. As Maria and Jose search for “posada” (shelter) on their way to Bethlehem, a mischievous devil and his sidekick try to prevent them from finding shelter. Two angels intervene and a fight between good and evil unfolds.
There are two performances of La Posarela at Brava Theatre on Sunday, December 8, 2013 — at 1 pm and at 5 pm.
*$5 in advance; $7 at the door
