“La Posarela” Mexican Christmas Musical & Fiesta | Mission Dist.
“La Posarela” is the story of Mary and Joseph seeking shelter on their way to Bethlehem, and being diverted by a mischievous devil along the way.
It features a cast of 80, a funny, bilingual script, Mexican Christmas carols and original latin music. There’s a fiesta after the performance with a piñata, atole and tamales.
The performances and pinata parties are free on Dec 7-8, 2012, but the tamales and atole – a Mexican and Central American hot drink made from corn – will be for sale. The Dec. 9, 2012 performance is $5. All proceeds will support next year’s production of this free event
Get into the holiday spirit with “La Posarela” Community Music Center’s popular Christmas musical blends the Mexican traditions of las Posadas and las Pastorelas with social commentary and humor.
Performers include members of CMC’s Latin Music Vocal Workshop, Mission District Young Musicians Program, Coro del Pueblo, Children’s Chorus and Senior Choruses.
Join us a fiesta afterwards with a piñata, atole and tamales.
