Event Details

In his new book Lefty O’Doul, Baseball’s Forgotten Ambassador, Dennis Snelling discusses how San Francisco Giants great Lefty O’Doul became the unofficial father of professional baseball in Japan. Although recruited as a pitcher, he became one of baseball’s best power hitters, retiring with baseball’s fourth highest lifetime batting average. Later he helped establish the professional game in Japan. A book sale by the Friends of the San Francisco Public Library follows the event. This program is co-sponsored by the Lefty O’Doul chapter for the Society for American Baseball Research.
