Please note, 2017 “Life is Living” Fest has been postponed due to fires and the growing concern for the health and wellness of our people. We are calling on our community to support immediate relief efforts for our friends and family impacted up North.

Life is Living is a free celebration of urban life through hip hop, theater, art, talks, intergenerational health and environmental action presented by Youth Speaks.

The day kicks off with a free breakfast, then watch DeFremery Park come alive with performances, dancing, art and conversation.

2017 marks the 10th Annual Life Is Living Festival in Oakland. Over the past years, they have transformed deFremery Park (Little Bobby Hutton Park) from vacant to vibrant. They are indebted to the local West Oakland heroes and sheroes of The Black Panther Party for inspiring them to use culture as a vehicle for social change. That said, they are honored to pay tribute to the enduring legacy of The Black Panther Party at this year’s festival.

Through efforts such as The Free Breakfast Program, they re-dedicate ourselves to sustaining the Panther’s revolutionary commitment to community generated solutions.
