Light Up The Night 2014: Free Bike Light Campaign | SF
Now that the clocks have fallen back, it’s going to get darker waaaay earlier.
So the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), and the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition (SFBC) are giving out thousands of free front and rear bicycle lights to bikers in need who don’t already have them on four nights in November and December.
Light up the Night 2014
FREE Front & Rear Bicycle Lights for riders in need
For More Info: sfbike.org
- Thursday, November 6 | 5-7:30 pm
- Thursday, November 20 | 5-7:30 pm
- Tuesday, December 4 | 5-7:30 pm
- Tuesday, December 11 | 5-7:30 pm
To make sure that the bicycle lights go to those who need them the most, they keep the distribution locations a secret.
Sign up to volunteer – volunteer roles include helping direct those riding by to their pop-up station, installing front and back lights, spreading important safety information and signing up new members.
A white front light and red rear reflector (or light) are required by law when riding at night, yet some cyclists either cannot afford lights or are not aware of the law. The “Light up the Night” campaign will target these cyclists by issuing free lights and talking with them about the importance of always using lights at night.
This campaign is to reach cyclists in need without lights to get them. Please don’t abuse the program. If you already have a light, don’t hide it just to get a new one. This is safety promotion.
