Macy’s Great Tree in Union Square, San Francisco’s gift to the city and most recognized Christmas tree will be officially lit in Union Square. An 85-foot Shasta White Fir from the Carlton Tree Farm in Mount Shasta will be adorned with thousands of twinkling lights and 1,500 red and gold ornaments.
The event features live music from American Idol‘s Anoop Desai, Glide Ensemble and the San Francisco Boys Chorus, a sneak peak performance of Cirque de Soleil’s new show, OVO and of course Santa Claus leading a spirited countdown until the flipping of the switch to turn on the tree.
