Major League Quidditch is coming to San Francisco on Saturday, July 30. The San Francisco Argonauts are hosting a three game series against their division rival, the Los Angeles Guardians, at Beach Chalet Pitch from 2 pm to 5 pm.
The event is free and open to the public.
Heading into the final home matches of the regular season, the Argonauts sit in third place in the West Division with a 3-3 record. San Francisco faces a tough test against Los Angeles. The Guardians are one of the favorites to win the league title at the 2016 MLQ Championship in League City, Texas on Aug. 20-21.
Quidditch is a gender-integrated, contact sport particularly popular on college campuses around the world. Ten years ago, the rules were adapted from J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter book series, incorporating elements of basketball, rugby and dodgeball.
Major League Quidditch has set out to create a high-intensity environment for the best athletes in North America to hone their skills and compete for one of our sport’s highest honors: the Benepe Cup. The 16 teams represented in the league hail from four divisions: East, North, South and West.
