Event Details

Join the annual Martin Luther King Jr. community event “Make the Dream Real” in Oakland on the national MLK holiday.

The event encourages volunteerism, honors community members who are doing exemplary service in the Bay Area, showcases young artistic presentations and provides inspiring speeches by various notable keynote speakers.

16th Annual “Make the Dream Real”

The theme for 2014 is: “Dream a System of Racial Equality” featuring Keynote Speaker Dr. Shakti Butler of World Trust.

Awards will be presented to community and youth leaders living the message of Dr. King.

Special guests and performers include:

  • Kehinde & Taiwo Kujichagulia-Seitu
  • Oakland Spirit Orchestra Featuring The Voices of the King
  • Oakland Interfaith Youth Gospel Chorus

  • Ballet Folklorico De Frank Zapata
