Mundo Maya 12.12.12: Mayan Calendar Celebration | Mission Dist.

Galeria de La Raza presents their new exhibit Mundo Maya 12:12:12: A Celebration of the Mayan Culture & Calendar with works by Latino/Mayan youth in collaboration with artist Roberto Y. Hernandez.

This four day celebration will include an opening reception, a maiz celebration, a ceremony for La Virgen de Guadalupe and a ceremony for the end of the Mayan Calendar. All are free and open to the public.

Maize Celebration: Saturday, December 8, 2012 – 12 noon – 6:00 p.m.
Join a festival celebrating Mayan food, particularly Maya foods made from corn: Tamales, Pupusas, Nacatamales, Quesadillas, Chica, Tortillas, Pan Dulce, Empanadas, Tacos, Gorditas, Bunuelos, Atole, Chamurrado, Albodigas in collaboration with La Cocina, Accion Latina, BRAVA Theater, La Victoria, Casa Sanchez, and Chaac – Mool.

Samples will be available for purchase for $3-5.
