Event Details

SFCM’s New Music Ensemble has embodied a progressive attitude since its inception in 1969, and, after taking off in the ’70s with former faculty member John Adams at the helm, the Ensemble gained a reputation for adventurous programming that challenged the traditional concert experience. Conductor Nicole Paiement continues to ride the current, leading a performance featuring music by the inimitable Lou Harrison.

SFCM joins The Bay Area’s celebration of the Lou Harrison Centennial with this concert, featuring important works by Harrison, whose style is known for incorporating non-Western traditions, relating to his activism, and showcasing a world of interesting techniques and sounds.

Free but an RSVP is required.
