Spacious Grace 2023: Grace Cathedral’s Free Arts Festival (SF)

Spacious Grace is the annual free-form arts festival at the cathedral when they remove the pews and fill the space with exciting events that are free and open to all.

Now in its eighth year, Spacious Grace is the time when they open the amazing space and invite you to experience the soaring arches, majestic columns and glittering stained glass in a whole new way. Artists are invited to present a wide range of cultural events — theater, dance, music and more — for two weeks in February.

• Yoga on the Labyrinth | February 7, 11, 14 at 6:15pm
• SFJAZZ Presents Ambrose Akinmusire | February 9 at 7pm
• ODC: Path of Miracles | February 10-12 at 8pm
• That Week with the Bachs | February 16-18
  A pivotal moment occurred to this star-crossed family. Bach had composed hundreds of cantatas in the 1720s – cycles of them – then went on to other things. Abruptly, in November 1731, he urgently rushed to compose a new cantata. Why? That mystery leads to worlds of revelations about the family. The perfect way to tell the story of that amazing week is with a musical.

In honor of our friends and community, gather to celebrate all the lives affected and the lives lost in the Ghost Ship fire. They have joined together to make a beautiful evening of song and music and an altar for offerings will be created.

• Marisa Lenhardt Patton singing opera arias
• Katabatik playing ambient sounds
• Maki Ishii on violin from the SF Opera Symphony with Victoria Ehrich on cello
• Jason Cool on sitar
• The Ruth Asawa School of the Arts Choir
• Rev. Lyle Beckman poetry
• Projection visuals by Terry Estioko as “Viberation”
• The Singers of the Street, a homeless choir
• Reading by Rev Megan Rohrer
• Plus others
