Come to Lake Merritt in downtown Oakland and learn about rowing – an invigorating, intense, fun, and bonding sport which hosts a National Learn To Row Day every year in June.

Join the Lake Merritt Rowing Club for a free 90-minute rowing lesson in celebration of National Learn to Row Day.

• Learn how to row both on ergometers (rowing machines) and with experienced rowers on the water
• Have an introduction to rowing equipment and a tour of the LMRC boathouse
• Meet LMRC club members and receive information on lessons, club membership, and the rowing teams at LMRC.

If you are looking to get fit and have fun while spending time outside we have the sport for you. No previous rowing experience necessary.

Note: Participants must be at least 15 years old. Minors (under 18) must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Sign ups begin at 7:45 am. On-site reservations are required on a first come, first served basis. Must be present to register. Come early to secure a seat in a boat.

Wear comfortable, tight-fitting athletic clothing (loose clothing can get in the way), socks, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and bring a bottle of water.
