CANCELED: Nerd Nite East Bay: Geeky Lectures in a Bar | Oakland

This event is on indefinite hiatus

Nerd Nite East Bay is a monthly lecture-in-a-bar series. They get smart and interesting people, give them lots of free drinks, and put them on stage in front of a couple hundred tipsy nerds.

Sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it’s salacious, and it’s always nerdy.

Nerd Nite East Bay

The Uptown Nightclub, 1928 Telegraph in Oakland

Airships, Bridge & Cartography | CANCELED: Nerd Nite East Bay: Geeky Lectures in a Bar | Oakland

Get back to the ABCs with Nerd Nite East Bay on April 29, 2013.

  • Justin Quimby opens with a talk on airships (and blimps and zeppelins and dirigibles and whatever other lighter-than-air aircraft you please).
  • George Baker from T.Y. Lin, is helping to replace the East Bay Bridge. The bridge has been in the news lately, and you’ll hear about the engineering that is making it safe.
  • Darin Jensen is rounding out the set with a talk on cartography. His recently kickstarted Food: An Atlas has made people hungry to learn more about maps and map making.

DJ Ion the Prize and Rick and Rebecca will host through the evening, as usual.
