Cancelled – Nerd Nite North Bay | Novato

Please Note: After two full and fun years of shows, Nerd Nite North Bay have decided to stop doing monthly presentations.

Hang out with smart people and learn some stuff while drinking beer at the Nerd Nite North Bay held on the first Tuesday of the month at Hopmonk Tavern in Novato.

Nerd Nite North Bay’s second event might be happening several days after Halloween, but it’s never too late for some sweet, spooky goodness. Learn about using science and behavior to tame the world’s most untameable beast (pet cats), the inspiration behind an entire century of horror writing, and how to be an amazing mascot. It’s autumn, nerds, and it’s time to snuggle up, dig in, and learn stuff while you drink beer with smart people.

The Secret, Sweaty, Awesome Life of a Professional Mascot by Brian Hagen

Have you ever gazed in delight at the antics of some costumed mascot and tried to imagine the kind of selfless hero who would endure the heat, the sweat, the random pummeling, the occasional stowaway spider… all just to bring joy to the hearts of children? Of course you haven’t, the question is ridiculous. Admit it, though: you *have* wondered how much he was sweating under there. Come learn the truth about that and more in a revelation of the dark secrets of those who take the Fur.

Brian Hagen grew up both craving and being terrified of public attention, and found his perfect niche as a costume character performer and mascot. He can currently be seen around the Bay as Ray the Rhino for the amazing kids’ band The Raytones, and as Webberly the Fact Rat on KOFY’s “Creepy KOFY Movie Time.”
