Event Details

Join 6,000+ peeps in celebrating the low-brow art of Internet cat videos as The Great Wall of Oakland (yes, it’s 100 feet tall) hosts the Internet Cat Video Festival.

Live bands play cat-themed music, local artisans selling arts and crafts (cat themed…duh), Bandaloop gives an aerial dance performance, and kitty celebrity, Lil Bub, the perma-kitten makes a rare special appearance (an additional $20 for a photo opp, or $35 to pet him. Proceeds will be split between the East Bay SPCA and Lil BUB’s Big Fund).

Oh, and when the sun goes down, gather around The Great Wall to view #catvidfest – a curated collection of Internet cat videos.

Oakland Cat Video Festival Lineup
Keep in mind that certain events and timings might change.

  • 3 pm: Vagabondage
Vagabondage is a Bay Area, California based folk-punk band that was born over nachos and wine on a tiny stage in an empty theater in San Francisco’s Mission District. They play songs of heartbreak, hope, and doom, and play accordions to save kittens
  • 4 pm: D. Edward
Independent singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist, make music to make you and your cat happy. Also known as the percussionist with Con Funk Shun
  • 5:15 pm: Zanzibar Physics

  • 6 pm: Caitlin Gil Comedy
Caitlin’s comedy style twists her personal experiences into comedy confessions that will leave you red in the face, probably from laughter.
  • 6:15 pm: Protea
Protea is Serena Toxicat’s thorny, sharp-clawed, 21st century brainchild. She recommends that you enjoy a tincture of this mysterious flower in a cozy dungeon with a crystal divinatory pendulum and a cup of catnip tea.
  • 7 pm: Bandaloop
The Great Wall of Oakland’s artist in residence and internationally recognized aerial dance troupe, Bandaloop, will perform the first ever aerial kittycat duet off the 100′ Wall. It is one kittycat duet not to be missed.
  • 7:10 pm: Aaron Fisher Band
    A Grateful Dead cover band
  • 8 pm: Bandaloop
The Great Wall of Oakland’s artist in residence and internationally recognized aerial dance troupe, Bandaloop, will perform the first ever aerial kittycat duet off the 100′ Wall. It is one kittycat duet not to be missed.
  • 8:30 pm: Bay Area Premeire of #catvidfest

Can you see the films for free?
Technically tickets are $10 for adults – which we think is an awesome price for this fest – and we’ve been told that the area is fenced off, so that if you’re not in the ticketed area, you won’t be able to see the films, but our guess is that if you want to be a freeloader, you should stand right outside the gates or across the street and you might be able to see the film (it’s on a giant wall, for goodness’ sake) though you may not be close and of course you’ll miss out on all the pre-film entertainment.

No guarantees of course, so bring $10, just in case.
