Event Details

By 2050 there will be more plastics than fish in the oceans. Over 299 million tons of plastic are produced each year and yet corporations have convinced the world it is primarily the consumers’ responsibility to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Individual responsibility is huge, but shouldn’t corporations also be held responsible for this?

That’s why all over the world, Greenpeace is participating in beach-cleanups, with a twist. They’re auditing the trash and reporting back to companies like Coca-Cola how much of their trash finds it way to the beaches.

In the Bay Area, we’ll be partnering with Surf Rider, an incredible organization looking out for “oceans, waves and beaches through a powerful activist network.” They host beach cleanups in the Bay 3 times a month.

They will be attending next Sunday’s Clean-up, auditing the trash and including the findings in a global report. We will have grabbers, buckets, and gloves, but if you have your own, please bring them!
