Event Details

A long time ago, in a galaxy not so far away, LucasFilm contacted Marvel Comics and licensed an official comic book adaptation of their soon-to-be-released film Star Wars. The monthly comic went on to become one of Marvel’s biggest hits of the 1970s.

On Tuesday, May 15 2012, the Cartoon Art Museum welcomes penciler Howard Chaykin and inker Steve Leialoha for a one-night-only special presentation on the origins of the Star Wars comic book and their experiences in creating the official Marvel Comics adaptation of the film.

Comedian, cartoonist and longtime Star Wars fan Michael Capozzola will moderate the discussion, and acclaimed comedian Joe Klocek will conduct a special Star Wars Q&A following the presentation.
