Original Famous Twang Sundays is a free, all-ages concert series at Thee Parkside in Potrero Hill.

Come by every Sunday; there’s always a fresh traditional or contemporary live act and a surprise special to purchase from the kitchen.

Sunday September 7th, Original Famous Twang Sundays welcomes William Robert Empire and Jaime Wyatt & The Bang Bangs to Thee Parkside.

While most football players were lugging around their gear, one was lugging around a guitar. Even as a running back for the Detroit Lions, William Robert’s innate gift for music couldn’t be hidden and nobody complained. Having performed for both the privileged and the poor, William Robert Empire has played hundreds of shows in 15 countries and has dedicated his music to helping the overlooked in society. With strong Motown roots, William’s music is the equivalent of a child birthed by Willie Nelson and Bill Withers raised by Frank Sinatra. Modern contemporaries include Ray LaMontagne and Ben Harper.

Jaime Wyatt is a striking figure who walks the Earth with an old soul. Her repertoire tells stories of heartbreak and redemption, delivered by a voice that is both rich and magnetic. Comparisons are frequently drawn to Chrissie Hynde, Stevie Nicks and at times, she has been anointed a female Tom Petty. Wyatt is a dynamic performer, duly noted as a powerhouse singer and stellar guitar player, sailing between vintage ’60s and ’70s rock n roll anthems and heartfelt ballads of love and confusion.

Originally discovered by Skip Williamson of LA indie label Lakeshore Records while still living in her hometown of Gig Harbor, Washington, she signed her first recording contract at 17. Her Lakeshore Records self-titled EP was produced by Pete Droge, and delivered a windfall with each and every song receiving placement in a major motion picture or soundtrack, some of which included Wicker Park (“Lightswitch”), Midnight Meat Train (song title), and Feast of Love (song title). The track “Lightswitch” became a hit at college and indie radio in the U.S., alongside at stations across the European continent. Tiffany, of ’80s pop radio fame, covered her composition “Mind Candy” on her album Just Me. This year, a song Wyatt penned with Pete Droge and Elaine Summers was featured on ABC’s hit TV show Nashville. Come see Jaime Wyatt with her backing band the Bang Bang’s for an experience you won’t soon forget.
