Original Famous Twang Sundays is a free, all-ages concert series at Thee Parkside in Potrero Hill.
Come by every Sunday; there’s always a fresh traditional or contemporary live act and a surprise special to purchase from the kitchen.
On Sunday, February 8th, Original Famous Twang Sundays welcomes The Silver Threads and The Gravel Spreaders to Thee Parkside.
The Silver Threads hail out of San Francisco’s Bay Area. Inspired by greats such as Lowell George, The Rolling Stones, Warren Zevon and Bob Dylan, their music tells stories about life, living and everything in between.
The Gravel Spreaders is what happens when a metalhead hopped up on moonshine, spite and Hank Williams III, uses sweet talk and coercion to coax three musicians into wearing coveralls and playing twang instrumentals of hair-metal covers.
Their debut album consists of 13 songs of lust, remorse, Satan, beer, and the trailer-park hits of yesteryear, blue-grass style.
With a set list that covers Johnny Cash, Ozzy, Rage Against the Machine and everything in between, the Spreaders remind us that nothing is sacred. Bud (Tom Beyer), Doc (K.S. Haddock), Uncle Mungar (Mark Ungar) and Buzzy Do-Well (Pete Feltman) are long-time Bay Area multi-instrumentalists who collectively have several albums, movie scores, and San Francisco Fringe Festival awards to their credit.
